Electrical Power Failure Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP)

1. Description of the Threat/Event. A utility electrical power failure, which is followed by activation of the emergency generator(s), which provides power to, selected medical equipment, transport systems, exit lighting, electrical outlets and other critical lighting.

The National Strategy for Physical Protection of Critical Infrastructures and Key Assets was established in February 2003. It identifies policy, goals, objectives, and principles for actions needed to “secure the infrastructures and key assets, national security, governance, public health and safety, economy, and public confidence.” It also provides a unifying organizational structure for the Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources and protection, and identifies specific initiatives related to the NIPP to drive near-term national production priorities and inform the resource allocation process.

The National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace established in February 2003 sets forth objectives and specific actions to prevent cyberattacks against America’s Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources, reduce nationally identified vulnerability to cybertax, minimize damage, and recover time from cyberattacks. The strategy provides vision for server security and serves as the foundation for security for the country’s Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources.
